Su Blackwell

Su Blackwell is an artist from the UK who transforms old books into sculptures about the stories contained in the works. She inspires me because her sculptures are so delicate, detailed, and timeless.

 The Mad Tea Party- Alice
 The Baron in the Trees

Its hard to see all the details of this sculpture with this picture but there is a ton of little things hidden among the tree tops such as a clothes line, and an umbrella.

Wuthering Heights

Her works remind me of when I was first introduced to reading and felt the book just seem to come alive in my hands. The instillation below reminds me of how I felt as a child.

Chocolate Festival at Mosi

Today my roommate, Quinn, and I went to Mosi's  2nd annual chocolate festival, after all what better way is there to spend a day of from school then with girl time and chocolate.

Love the advice

Though as pointed out above chocolate bars continue little caffeine one of the vendors sold a mix made from ground cacao beans used in place of coffee called Choffy that is supposed to be as helpful for keeping you awake. What better way to wake up in the morning than a cup of chocolate.... Yum
And I thought I loved chocolate... More power to the Swiss who eat twice as much chocolate than we do.

For two dollars you could paint your own chocolate lollipop. Personally, I'd rather spend it on getting more chocolate.

Now this is my kind of art. What better medium than one that  can be eaten afterward

The Chocolate Runway
Contestants made outfits almost entirely out of chocolate wrapper

My Idea for a dress made out of candy wrappers
What do you think? Can I go into the Wonka Fashion Industry?

Can I get paid with one of these please?

While we were in the museum we checked out some of the regular exhibits. One of the floors took you through genetics and pregnancy and one of the buildings went through drugs and of course there was the high wire bike something I don't think I could ever do but Quinn couldn't wait to try out.

And Now For the Best Part

the Merchandise

Picking what to get is so hard... Why do I have to be a broke college student?

A sketch showing the only thing that goes through my mind when I hear the word chocolate.

Now why can't my scale be this positive?

Artist at work. I feel sorry for the model. Who wants to sit that still when surrounded by that much chocolate

For those brave enough... The Chocolate Dare

Actually I wanted to try some of these but wasn't brave emough to put up the coins for something I couldn't taste before I bought. Supposedly the crickets are like rice crispy treats. I wonder...

My roommate and my decisions. Above cake pops flavored birthday cake, hot chocolate, and s'mores. Below truffles flavored champagne, German chocolate and some liquor neither Quinn nor I can remember
